I am writing you with a delay due to technical problems encountered in our web site. However, as you see we managed to overcome the problems and our brand new web site is functional now. This site is user friendly and you will easily reach the information you need .

I am happy and proud of addressing you first time as President of EEMA after the successful conference held in Helsinki in August 2016. I would start with thanking Dear Luciano Di Martino, EEMA President of last period, with whom I had the pleasure of co-working two years. I wish him best success in the rest of his life in Rotary. I also thank Presidents of past periods, Dear Danielle Balthus and Dear Vivi-Anne Assel, for their continuous support during my vice presidency.

Dear Friends;

We met with our YEO friends from all over the world in Helsinki. The common sense that is gathering us in this extraordinary organization is YEP. In that conference, we shared our knowledge, developed ourselves and discussed the ways of serving our youth better. Dear Lindsay Griswold from R.I. Headquarter Evanston fed us with update information.

Our topic is the warrant of our future; YOUTH.While the youngsters are very talent to adopt the changes they are also the most important element in constructing the future. In the YEP, one of the most important program of Rotary, we are trying to give the grown-ups of the future; the sense of reciprocal understanding, dialog, personal development and common benefit in order to shape a beautiful future to our World. This is why the YEP has an important role in placing the globalization in the center of peace. And this is why also YEP is an important building block in contributing to maturation of the global actors and scriptwriters of tomorrow. You, my Dear Friends, are the missioners that are making this era real, with your devoted Works. I congratulate each of you and thank you from my heart.

When we look at our present World, we realize that the most important global need is “PEACE”. As I always point out; PEACE and YOUTH are getting together under the roof of Rotary. While the World is changing with incredible speed in technology and communication, on the other hand the need for peace is increasing at the same speed. Thousands of young people from all around the World are, each being an ambassador of his/her country, learning the culture of the country they visit and share their culture with them. This exchange of culture is teaching them how important treasury is the difference between cultures. Consequently the culture of the youngsters is developing. The more awareness of the people develops the more they understand each other. It is very difficult to fight for the people that understand each other. The YEP is giving the potential of understanding each other.

The 65th EEMA conference will take place in Warsaw during 8-10 September 2017. This beloved country in the core of Europe, will share her cultural heritance with us. From time to time we will feel as if we are in a fairy tale, time to time we will witness the sad remains of the war. While we will commemorate the contribution to history of enlightening of Nicolaus Copernicus, the nocturnes of Frederic Chopin will fly us away. The slogan of 65th EEMA conference is “PEACE, RESPONSIBILITY, LEADERSHIP”. Together with my friend EEMA Vice President Jacob Volther and our Polish friends Kryztof and Tadeus , we already started our work to prepare an unforgettable conference. EEMA 2017 website prepared by our Polish friends will be at your service soon. I recommend you to take advantage of early registry.

Before closing for now, I would like to point out that : Budha described the happiness as follows : “There is no way to the happiness, happiness is the way”. In my opinion; The way and the happiness are Youth Exchange.

Until we meet again I wish you all to be in peace and happiness

With my respects and affections
